Position Summary

The Field Service Technician is responsible for servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, testing, and supporting equipment at customer sites and other designated locations. This role requires a hands-on technician who can work independently in the field, deliver high-quality customer service, and represent the company professionally while ensuring equipment performance, reliability, and safety.

The ideal candidate will have proven field service experience, strong technical troubleshooting ability, excellent time management, and the flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment with changing schedules and customer demands.


Key Responsibilities / Duties

  • Provide service and customer support during field visits or dispatches.
  • Tie workflow to schedule and manage appointments efficiently to remain on time.
  • Assist with all on-site installation, repair, maintenance, testing, and commissioning tasks for equipment and related systems.
  • Diagnose equipment errors, malfunctions, or technical problems and determine proper corrective solutions.
  • Troubleshoot, test, repair, and service technical equipment in accordance with company procedures and standards.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and functional testing to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Proactively communicate job progress, site issues, and service updates to the Field Service Manager and customer as needed.
  • Complete accurate service documentation, including repair reports, findings, parts used, and recommendations.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail to identify issues and ensure work is completed thoroughly and correctly.
  • Keep tools, equipment, service parts, and paperwork organized while in the field.
  • Follow all company field procedures, protocols, and safety requirements.
  • Document processes and assist in creating or improving service procedures and work instructions.
  • Cooperate with the technical team and share information across the organization to support continuous improvement and knowledge transfer.
  • Understand customer requirements and provide appropriate recommendations, updates, and briefings regarding service needs and equipment condition.
  • Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with customers.
  • Represent the company with professionalism, tact, and diplomacy at all times.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high standard of service delivery.
  • Perform other company-related tasks as required.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by the supervisor or designee.

Minimum Education

Technical degree, trade certification, or equivalent hands-on experience in mechanical, electrical, industrial, or related technical fields.


Background / Experience

  • Proven experience in a Field Service Technician or similar technical service role.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, test, repair, and service technical or industrial equipment.
  • Experience working with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or industrial machinery is highly desirable.
  • Strong English literacy, both written and verbal.
  • Familiarity with mobile tools, service apps, and digital reporting platforms.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and adapt to changing work schedules and customer requirements.
  • Must be prepared to work flexible hours and schedules to meet deadlines and operational demands.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to maintain accurate service records and reports.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must meet all hiring criteria, including background check, E-Verify, and drug screen requirements.

  • Must be capable of working in field environments, customer sites, and service locations.
  • Ability to use tools, handle equipment components, and perform hands-on technical work safely and effectively.

Work Environment

  • Field-based role involving travel to customer locations.
  • May require work outside normal business hours based on service demand, project schedules, or emergency support needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience servicing industrial machinery, technical equipment, or heavy-duty mechanical systems.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs and technical field reporting.
  • Familiarity with customer-facing service roles in industrial equipment, manufacturing, recycling, or technical support sectors.
